SilverQR — Acceptable Use Policy

Version 2026-07-30. Part of the Terms of Service.

This policy governs what you and your users may do with the Service. Breach is a material breach of the Terms and may result in immediate suspension or termination without notice, refund, or liability. We may act on suspicion alone where the Service, another customer, or a third party is at risk.

We do not undertake to monitor content, and no absence of action constitutes approval of anything you publish.

1. Content you must not publish

Through a mini-site, menu, brand name, venue name, subdomain slug, staff note or any other field, you must not publish or transmit content that:

• is unlawful, or promotes or facilitates unlawful activity;
• infringes copyright, trade mark, design right, patent, trade secret, or any right of privacy or publicity;
• is defamatory, harassing, threatening, or incites violence or hatred against a person or group;
• is sexually explicit, or depicts or sexualises minors in any way;
• misrepresents the venue's identity, licences, certifications, allergen information, prices, or legal status;
• offers goods or services whose sale requires a licence you do not hold, including alcohol, tobacco, pharmaceuticals, gambling, weapons, or controlled substances;
• contains malware, exploit code, or deceptive links;
• impersonates SilverQR, another customer, or any third party, or suggests our endorsement.

2. Guest data — the rules that matter most

Because the Service can recognise returning devices and can record staff opinions about identifiable people, the following are prohibited outright. These are the provisions most likely to attract regulatory attention, and breach of them is never treated as minor.

You must not:

• enable device recognition where you have not obtained any consent or established any lawful basis required in your jurisdiction;
• collect guest data through the Service without displaying the required privacy notice at your premises and on your mini-site;
• record ratings, flags or notes that are false, malicious, retaliatory, or irrelevant to the guest's conduct at your venue;
• record or infer any special category of data — race, ethnicity, religion, health, disability, sexual orientation, sex life, political opinion, trade union membership, or biometric or genetic data;
• use restriction records to discriminate on any protected characteristic;
• profile, track, or record data about anyone under 16;
• attempt to identify a guest by combining SilverQR data with an external dataset in a way the guest was not told about;
• export guest data and use it for marketing, resale, credit assessment, employment screening, insurance, or any purpose beyond operating your venue;
• share, publish, or disclose another venue's guest data, or your own guest data, to any third party without a lawful basis.

3. Platform integrity

You must not:

• probe, scan, penetration-test, fuzz, or load-test the Service without our prior written permission;
• circumvent, disable, or attempt to exceed authentication, rate limiting, workspace quotas, access controls, or protected-venue gating;
• access data belonging to another workspace, or attempt to;
• automate access at a rate or in a pattern that degrades the Service for others;
• scrape the Service, or use it to build a competing or derivative product;
• reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service;
• resell, sublicense, white-label, or provide access to third parties as a service without our written agreement;
• create multiple workspaces to evade quotas, suspension, or these Terms;
• register subdomain slugs in bulk, speculatively, or that infringe a third-party trade mark, or that impersonate a real business you do not operate.

Coordinated targeting

Ratings, flags and restriction records exist so that a venue can protect its own staff and premises. Using them to organise against a person or a business is a serious breach. You must not:

• act with other users, or coordinate with anyone, to direct ratings, flags, restrictions, reports or complaints at a particular guest, venue, or person;
• submit a rating, flag, restriction or abuse report you know to be false, or in retaliation for a complaint, a review, a refusal of service, or a dispute;
• use more than one account, workspace or venue to make the same accusation carry more weight than one venue's word;
• solicit or incentivise anyone to record a rating, flag or restriction they would not otherwise have recorded;
• present a restriction record as though it were a finding by SilverQR, a legal determination, or a shared industry blacklist.

Records that survive this policy are one venue's opinion of one visit. Treating them as anything more, or building a campaign out of them, is grounds for immediate termination under §6.

4. Email and messaging

Transactional email sent by the Service — invitations, verification, reset, notifications — must not be used to deliver marketing, bulk messaging, or content prohibited by §1. Do not invite addresses whose owner has not agreed to be invited.

5. Reporting

Report abuse to [email protected] and security vulnerabilities to [email protected]. We ask that you report vulnerabilities privately and allow a reasonable period for remediation before any disclosure. We will not pursue a good-faith researcher who stays within §3 and reports promptly — but testing without prior written permission remains a breach of this policy, and any forbearance is at our discretion.

6. Enforcement

We may, at our sole discretion and without prior notice:

• remove or disable access to any content;
• suspend or terminate any user, workspace, or venue;
• take a mini-site offline;
• reclaim a subdomain slug;
• report conduct to law enforcement or a supervisory authority; and
• preserve and disclose records where required by legal process or where necessary to protect our rights or the safety of others.

Our decisions under this policy are final. There is no appeal process during the beta, and no compensation is payable for enforcement action.
